Advance care planning is simply the process of discussing your health care preferences in advance, with the important people in your life.

​Having an advance care plan in place is important for you, comforting for your loved ones and essential when making responsive healthcare decisions.  As Northern Nevada’s premier, family-oriented, in-home Hospice provider, we encourage you to plan long before you need end-of-life care. Making your wishes known ahead of time is one of the greatest gifts you can give your family.  We can help you explore and discuss your options, talk with your family, and help you be better prepared.

Often family members have doubts after a loved one passes. They may wonder if they did the right thing or if they did everything possible. Preparing ahead of time and communicating your wishes before a medical crisis can help prevent these doubts. Thinking about and discussing our own death can be uncomfortable, but avoiding the topic will not postpone the inevitable, and not talking about it can have negative consequences for you and your loved ones. 

One of the greatest gifts you can give your family is guidance on what you want at the end of your life.  Having these conversations and sharing your wishes in advance ensure that a plan is created that reflects the care you want while creating a guide for your loved ones, if and when they need to make decisions on your behalf.
